After many hours of research into HTPC configurations, I have decided to forego that route for a nice extender. I am trying to go green as much as possible and love the small footprint of extenders. I have a Tivo HD so I am not looking for DVR capabilities. I would like an extender with the ability to play a huge variety audio/video/image content directly from my Readynas NV+. I am looking for a simple interface that will please my wife and kids and something that will not require a pc to be running at the same time. I will be connecting the extender to a HK AVR 745 Receiver and a Pioneer PDP-5080 plasma.
I would look at the Netgear EVA-8000, Popcorn hour, and maybe the DLink DSM-520 (older CPU, but can be had for ca $150) for a start. The ReadyNAS can stream to almost anything, so you can look at others in this forum also. If you want to read the forums on the EVA-8000 you will have to go to the Netgear forum, there isn't much discussion here.

Have you used the EVA-8000? How does it compare to TViX HD M-6500A, Popcorn Hour A-100, or SageTV HD Media Extender?
Are you running Vista? If not you can't use a media extender. No I haven't used the EVA-8000. It has a lot of features that I would like to have, but because it doesn't support uPnP (in spite of what the box says), I can't use Rhapsody on it, so I haven't bought it.
I suggest thay you read the forum threads here on the Tivx and Popcorn Hour, and then go to the Netgear forum and sign up for the beta forum. That should give you the background to compare the two.
