Well we need a new tv for the family room and the seating is pretty far away, but i also need it for my racing game frame i built so i will sit really close with that for ps3 and computer racing games.
I was thinking something like this, but people say its not good from more then like 8ft away (whats the point of a big tv if you are gunna have to sit further away???). But i was thinking that with my ps3 and computer it would probably be clearer, and also that these people are just really anal/ where watching ****** cable?
what do you guys think?

Hey. I am by no means as expert as what most of the people are on here, but I sit only about 7.5 feet away from my HL67A750 and it still looks great. Alot of it depends on your source, but I would not be afraid of getting a TV strictly because of concerns with viewing distance. Eight feet away would be plenty far enough for the 61 inch set, in my opinion.

I sit about eleven feet away from my 61A750 and it looks excellent to me.

As lonr as you are not watching SD programs or games close distance should not be a problem

A 61" screen should display HD programs fine at about 12' without losing any detail for anyone with 20/20 vision or glases that correct to 20/20.
2-4' feet may be too close certainly for SD programs and even HD content may appear grainy. You also not want to have to move your eyes to see the entire screen content which can happen if you are too close.

Actually an LCD may be worse since with LCD you have to contend with the response time of the LCD display itself if you are a gamer.
I have had no trouble with any of your links here on the AVD forum.
