I'm having the problem of Vista Media Center no longer recognizing my ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable OCUR box.

I have a 3.0 GHz HP Media center
4 gigs of RAM
Vista Media Center SP1 + all Windows Updates
ATI TV Wonder OCUR + comcast CableCard
New Ge8400 Video card with latest drivers
I’m using Comcast HD
Initially I got everything installed, paired my card, and Vista MC recognized the ATI box properly

Problem was that I had really jerky/crappy Live HD TV when playing through the ATI box. Regular TV used to be fine with my old regular TV tuner on the same box.

I was told to update my ATI TV Tuner box firmware from 1.15 to 1.17. I upgraded the firmware but now Vista MC will no longer recognize my TV tuner box. I’ve tried everything I know. Vista Device Manager recognizes the ATI box and says it’s fine but Media Center itself doesn’t recognize the TV Tuner when I step through the TV Setup part of Media Center.

So to summarize:
1) ATI TV Wonder box with 1.15 firmware was detected fine in VMC, but played jerky crappy video
2) ATI TV Wonder 1.17 updated firmware and ATI TV Tuner/cable signal is no longer detected by Media Center in TV setup

Any recommendations?

Thanks

You might want to check out the Greenbutton forums - there is a lot of Media Center expertise there.

I have the ATI 650 pci tuner and Vista 64. The tuner works with the 8.5 drivers but does not work with the 8.6 or 8.7 drivers. (TV tuner not found). Uninstalling the 8.6 or 8.7 drivers and reinstalling the 8.5 drivers do not work. The only way I could get the tuner to work was by doing a system restore. I have been in contact with ATI technical support for the last month and they had me running diagnostics and doing a complete uninstall of all ATI software including going into the registry and deleting all ATI references. This still did not work and again I had to do a system restore to get my tuner working.
