My Pioneer RED convergence cannot adjust and is way whacked.
Does anyone know what is wrong or how to fix it?
Where do you download the service manual?

hey there are a few places to buy the manual online for 10 - 12 bucks. just do a google on pioneer service manual.
If the problem is not really bad you can prob use the service menu to fix it. Under the front service panel (where the manual buttons are) there should be a little pinhole. stick a pin in there and it will activate the service mode, then you can use the remote and the service guide to nav all the options.
Im thinking that the convergence modules are hitting the end of their service life. Just going to try to source the part and see what thats going to cost. Maybe try the fix myself.

thanks for the reply! Where is the service panel? are you talking about where the rcas are in the front of the tv?
Also, does the tv has to be on before pushing the pinhole?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK I found out how to access the service menu but I have no idea what the screens are for.
It seems to take you to a convergence grid...any advise?

I got my service manual from manualsuniverse for $12. Starting around page 200 it goes into detail about all the devices that control convergence and the picture. It also has all the details about what the service menus do.
For example when you first go into the service mode there are dif combos of buttons you can push on the remote that will take you to either the red , green or blue convergence, you can also adjust all the color and picture settings , overscan all with much more detail.
I actually had to break my set open and move the yoke on the CRT to get it aligned again. Even though I did that the picture was still off so im having to buy a new DCU.
