Not planning to duplicate HD DVD purchases. I rather get something on BD that I don't already have on that format. It is going to cost enough just doing that for September.

I have provided a list yet because I need to make some decisions. Godfather Trilogy, Pale Rider, Iron Man, and The Sixth Sense are pretty definite.

Lots more I'd like to get though because I like the movie but price and quality will determine what I end up with.

The only thing I see worth owning is Godfather--but that's quite monumental alone.

I'd like the Kill Bills, but I already have both on DVD. Yeah, I've also got Godfather on DVD, but aside from the horrible quality of the Pai Mae sequence in vol 2, I find Kill Bill DVDs adequate enough for now....will wait for bargain bin! :)

Oh...and I guess I'm happy enough with my Cool Hand Luke DVD.

(a recent--and expensive--cross-country move + Euro trip + currently looking for job in one of the most expensive areas to live in the country = minimal entertainment expenses for some time....)

Sept. 2:

Transformers

Sept. 9:

Grey's Anatomy: S4 (possibly)

Sept. 16:

Sept. 23:

L.A. Confidential

Sept. 30:

And October isn't looking much better for the bank account, either.

Thats gonna be rough in one month, nabbing them the day they hit, but I will, because after the last couple of weak months, I can't wait actually for some great, fresh stuff! There's a few more I see I'd like down the line, especially if a slow period hits again, nice 'catch up buys' for me, worth picking up eventually (when the wallet recoups):

Godfadda I & II (if they're ever released individually)
Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2
1408
Jerry Maguire

Ladies and gents, start your engines!

Best I can do is try to get good prices but September releases I'm really looking forward to. And then there is October to contend with! :)

I really didn't spend much with August releases, just Pale Rider. Nightmare Before Christmas I'm still waiting for a good price. With high expectations and anticipation for what is coming, at least I saved some money.

Transformers
Cool Hand Luke: Deluxe Edition
The Godfather Trilogy

And also plan on picking up the following:
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Old School
Iron Man

Still contemplating the following:
Can't Hardly Wait
Knocked Up
The 40-Year Old Virgin (waiting for reviews to see if EE/DNR is still present)

This would increase my ownership of BD movies by about 25%. Bob Black, can I just borrow the ones I don't buy from you? ;)

I think that's just bad info. Nobody else has it listed. One would think if it was coming out on the second, other site and stores would list it. I do wish people wouldn't spread false rumors like that.

I'm still trying to find out what's up with Mongol. Lots of sites list it as coming out, but I can't find a store that will be selling it. :(

I can't wait either. I was wondering about when The Godfather I, II, and III would finally become available on BD and didn't learn until I saw this thread that it is being released on 23 September. I may have to buy this set later but in the interim I am going to rent it from BB. I have the DVDs of all three.

Like others, September is shaping up to be a good month for me:

Baby Mama
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Godfather trilogy
LA Confidential
Outbreak (maybe)
Cool Hand Luke (probably)
Kill Bill Vol 1&2
Married Life (maybe)
Jerry Maguire
Rudy (probably)
1408
88 Minutes (maybe)
The Fall (maybe...never heard of it but we shall see)
Forbidden Kingdom
Iron Man

I'd get more if I didn't already have some of the other titles on hd dvd and some others I will just rent.

The beauty though is there is a ton of other stuff coming in September like NFL starting, rock band 2, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and some new tv seasons starting up like dexter, heroes, entourage, How I Met Your Mother, Californication, etc.

September so far is shaping up to be one of the best months that I can remember.:)

J

It only just left most theaters in the US, about 1 week ago. I know it's been out for some time overseas, so I have no idea how this effects a US home release.

I will say, I was a bit disappointed with it. I'm glad that it wasn't the typical, simple hollywood-type epic (Braveheart), but then I found myself wishing it was. You know, when you're dealing with one of the greatest badass conquerors in the history of the world, you'd expect a lot of epic battles.

The cinematography was great, pacing unique, a decent amount of depth and alone time with the young Ghengis....but I guess I became a bit antsy for him to start laying waste and amassing hordes. Maybe it's my upbringing? It's nice that you don't get what you expect, and it certainly holds true to being a portrayal of Ghengis before he became Ghengis.

anyhoo, if it's a blind buy for anyone, and you're expecting Braveheart, you'll be disappointed. Though assuming they handle the transfer properly, there should be some great visuals throughout.
