Where? robertc88 07-29-08, 09:18 AM Not planning to duplicate HD DVD purchases. I rather get something on BD that I don't already have on that format. It is going to cost enough just doing that for September. I have provided a list yet because I need to make some decisions. Godfather Trilogy, Pale Rider, Iron Man, and The Sixth Sense are pretty definite. Lots more I'd like to get though because I like the movie but price and quality will determine what I end up with. It's one of the best movies coming to the format in September. zinfamous 08-27-08, 02:03 AM The only thing I see worth owning is Godfather--but that's quite monumental alone. I'd like the Kill Bills, but I already have both on DVD. Yeah, I've also got Godfather on DVD, but aside from the horrible quality of the Pai Mae sequence in vol 2, I find Kill Bill DVDs adequate enough for now....will wait for bargain bin! :) Oh...and I guess I'm happy enough with my Cool Hand Luke DVD. (a recent--and expensive--cross-country move + Euro trip + currently looking for job in one of the most expensive areas to live in the country = minimal entertainment expenses for some time....) There's a few more I see I'd like down the line, especially if a slow period hits again, nice 'catch up buys' for me, worth picking up eventually (when the wallet recoups): Godfadda I & II (if they're ever released individually) Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 1408 Jerry Maguire robertc88 08-27-08, 08:48 AM Ladies and gents, start your engines! Best I can do is try to get good prices but September releases I'm really looking forward to. And then there is October to contend with! :) I really didn't spend much with August releases, just Pale Rider. Nightmare Before Christmas I'm still waiting for a good price. With high expectations and anticipation for what is coming, at least I saved some money. Big J 08-27-08, 11:31 AM So what's the story with Mongol? Its not available for preorder yet. Has it been delayed or canceled? J Big J 08-27-08, 11:33 AM Way too many people not getting Darkwatch. It's one of the best movies coming to the format in September. Do you mean Night Watch and Day Watch? I got the imports. J Big J 08-27-08, 12:26 PM A Nightmare On Elm Street I can find no listing of this anywhere. Gotta link? J bplewis24 08-27-08, 12:42 PM Already pre-ordered the following: Transformers Cool Hand Luke: Deluxe Edition The Godfather Trilogy And also plan on picking up the following: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy L.A. Confidential Old School Iron Man Jerry Maguire Rudy Still contemplating the following: Can't Hardly Wait Knocked Up The 40-Year Old Virgin (waiting for reviews to see if EE/DNR is still present) This would increase my ownership of BD movies by about 25%. Bob Black, can I just borrow the ones I don't buy from you? ;) Brandon lovswr 08-27-08, 04:05 PM Dark City L.A. Confidential & that new Stargate movie. I just realized that DC & Stargate Continum came out in Aug (I got both). Naughty me for not paying attention! Still buying L.A. Confidential. bplewis24 08-27-08, 05:55 PM Guys, the Bits is reporting that Old School is actually coming 12/16/08. Amazon has it available for that date as well. So we can cross that one off the list for September. Brandon bplewis24 08-28-08, 11:50 AM Yeah, I've also got Godfather on DVD That qualifies you for Paramount's rebate program doesn't it? Brandon Minder Thr33 08-28-08, 01:47 PM I can find no listing of this anywhere. Gotta link? J I've been looking for any Nightmare on Elm St info too. No cover art available http://forums.dvdfile.com/high-definition-software/66252-nightmare-elm-street-blu-ray.html I think that's just bad info. Nobody else has it listed. One would think if it was coming out on the second, other site and stores would list it. I do wish people wouldn't spread false rumors like that. I'm still trying to find out what's up with Mongol. Lots of sites list it as coming out, but I can't find a store that will be selling it. :( I guess September will be a cheaper month for me. I was wondering about when The Godfather I, II, and III would finally become available on BD and didn't learn until I saw this thread that it is being released on 23 September. I may have to buy this set later but in the interim I am going to rent it from BB. J It only just left most theaters in the US, about 1 week ago. I know it's been out for some time overseas, so I have no idea how this effects a US home release. I will say, I was a bit disappointed with it. I'm glad that it wasn't the typical, simple hollywood-type epic (Braveheart), but then I found myself wishing it was. You know, when you're dealing with one of the greatest badass conquerors in the history of the world, you'd expect a lot of epic battles. The cinematography was great, pacing unique, a decent amount of depth and alone time with the young Ghengis....but I guess I became a bit antsy for him to start laying waste and amassing hordes. Maybe it's my upbringing? It's nice that you don't get what you expect, and it certainly holds true to being a portrayal of Ghengis before he became Ghengis. anyhoo, if it's a blind buy for anyone, and you're expecting Braveheart, you'll be disappointed. Though assuming they handle the transfer properly, there should be some great visuals throughout. zinfamous 08-30-08, 01:36 AM That qualifies you for Paramount's rebate program doesn't it? Brandon They'll give me some sort of rebate for my ~8 year-old "remastered" DVD set? It's not HDDVD, if that's what you read? I'm gonna check up on this...
