Hopefully the transfer looks about 1000 times better than the DVD.

Super cool. I am glad that they did this.

Hopefully the extra time they took vs the DVD has contributed to an excellent release.

Well, hate to tell you all, but this is one of the Anchor Bay muckups, where the old transfer is better than the new one. In fact, the old DVD was non-anamorphic and yet it had more detail than the "remastered" anamorphic DVD, which was noise reduced into oblivion.

So expect a repeat of EVIL DEAD II.

Why am I not surprised? :( I assume the 'remastered' transfer was used for both the Special and the 20th High School Reunion editions?

ugh, I hope not.
I don't get why they would ever apply DNR and EE to a master though.
different amounts need to applied to different targets, plus algorithms get better over time and if enough people raise up in arms they can be careful to not overdo it, just the minimal amount needed to account for resizing and any filtering during the scanning, if it is in the master, well what kind of master is that?

Gee, wouldn't it have been good to release this the same day as the DVD got re-released?

So glad I passed on the re-release but poor timing Anchor Bay.

Fff****. I was wondering why there was no BD when the DVD was touting a "new high-def transfer!!", and was thinking they might not bother for a few years. Now I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

Maybe it was delayed compared to the DVD to get a better transfer...?

I want to have hope...

I'm not sure about this new new NEW transfer. The one prior, which was done at 1080i, which has been released more than once, is an abomination.

DVDTalk's review says the DVD's probably the same transfer (although it does say "appears"):Presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1 aspect ratio), it appears Anchor Bay/Starz is simply reusing the transfer handed to the 2001 release of the film. The image is soft, absent a great amount of detail, and the fleshtones appear too pinkish throughout. Black levels also suffer from softness, but remain dependable. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/33769/heathers-20th-high-school-reunion-edition/

Looks like there's no hope of an import either.

They didn't even bother to make the Australian DVD work with the TV standard in that country. WTF?

Everyone consider themselves warned. DO NOT PRE-ORDER!

That transfer is the pits. Simply devoid of life and detail.
