Just as the title says. Aside from Planet Earth, what other documentaries do you guys recommend? (With good PQ and AQ of course)

View Full Version : Recommended BBC or other Documtaries? Degenerazn 07-28-08, 02:43 PM Just as the title says. Aside from Planet Earth, what other documentaries do you guys recommend? (With good PQ and AQ of course) dkny75 07-28-08, 03:05 PM I'm not sure if any of the documentaries have good AQ but the ones that are interesting and have fantastic PQ are: Galapagos Ganges Earth: The Biography Relentless Enemies Sporadic 07-28-08, 03:59 PM Galapagos is my favorite (when you take Planet Earth out) Pugnax555 07-28-08, 04:14 PM Galapagos was very well done. What I've seen of Earth: The Biography is very good, too, although some people are taking issue with some of it (how dare they talk about the climate in a documentary on the Earth!). Though not exactly a documentary, Baraka is coming out in October and should look amazing. nm88 07-28-08, 05:07 PM NG's recently released Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure has good PQ, though mostly CGI. funsocaltiger 07-29-08, 01:51 PM Don't forget Wild China comes out next Tuesday. I'm also getting Human Body: Pushing the Limits, if you are into that. This is a good list to use: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?genre=documentary WaldorfSalad 07-29-08, 03:22 PM I would love to see the various Michael Palin travel series (Around the World in 80 days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, Hemingway Adventure, Sahara, Himalaya, New Europe, etc) on Blu-ray. Ettepet 08-15-08, 02:23 PM Yesterday received my copy of 'Wild China' and watched the first 2 hours: It certainly appears to be one of the better BBC titles out there. At least on par with Planet Earth imo, and with a more consistent PQ. Cold_As_IceSMM 08-15-08, 02:37 PM Visions of the Future hasn't been announced for Blu-ray yet, but it's easily one of the best candidates for Hi-Def treatment both for content and picture. josephmckinney 08-15-08, 07:02 PM Another vote for Galapagos. Interesting documentary with stunning PQ. almostinsane 08-15-08, 07:27 PM When We Left Earth HPforMe 08-16-08, 03:33 PM Not necessarily documentaries but there is a host of BBC dramas and series I'd like to see on Blu Ray such as the six hour version of Pride and Prejudice. Robonaut 08-18-08, 11:12 AM Here's another vote for both Earth: The Biography and Sea Monsters. Both looked very good (although, Earth was a little inconsistent--they seemed to be using 480p stuff for some of their stock footage). |
