I am about to take my family on a road trip to St. Louis. It is about 10-11 hour drive. I was hoping to find some sort of hard-drive based media streaming solution.
I have a mini-van with built-in entertainment system which has AUX A/V jacks in the back.
I did see the Mediagate MG-25, but I noticed that it is unavailable. I was wondering if there was anything like it on the market. Something that is relatively small and portable (like a 2.5" HD). Also that has a car adaptor.
Any ideas?
TIA!

You should look into portable media players that have a tv output. Ipods, creative zen, archos, cowon a2/a3... to name a few... I have a creative zen w 30gb that I have music, movies, and tv shows that I've tried hooking into my car LCD that isn't too bad.

how about an external usb drive instead of internal storage? Do you have a laptop?

I use my creative player in the car but my buddy in denver has an xbox in his car and uses it for games music and DVD's. since you can put a 750G HD in one it certainly is one alternative...
portable players are much simpler. My personal video player is a Cowon A20. Analog TV inputs an outputs. you can also use it like a tivo and record stuff of analog sources with it using the composite video input.

You could take any of the "home" media players with you EX:Tvix, just use a cheap power converter for your vehicle. The make them that plug into your cig lighter.
