Ok, I have had this tv for about 8 months and while I am happy with it I really would like another 12" or so to fill up my wall space. Are there newer +70" tvs (Mitsubishi or Samsung presumably ) that are better and would be relatively inexpensive (under $3-$4k)? I did get a heck of a deal on the Sony, so I am pretty sure I can sell it without taking too big of a hit. Otherwise, I will simply enjoy the Sony and save the cash for the next generation. Thanks for any suggestions on this!

Samsung and Mitsu both make 70" DLP displays but I would go look instore to see if their picture is comparable to your Sony (or buy one to try at home and direct compare if you can). Pricing is between $3-$4k.

I was looking for something in the 'larger than 65' range when I decided to try front projection. You may want to check into that, as projectors are getting cheaper/better all the time. I don't regret my purchase one bit, and I only bought a budget model . There is a lot more space in my living room now too.:)

Hello,
You might want to check out Magnolia as they are offering a closeout price on the WD-73833. That being said, I looked at the set, and ultimately decided to keep my KDS-55A3000. I would personally rather have the A3000 series over anything with the exception of the Elite Kuro or a SXRD projector. Given I watch CNBC and play Dork Box, a Plasma would not be an advantageous solution.
I honestly do not think that either DLP RPTV is better than what you own. However, Mitsubishi's Laser TV has not been released and offers great potential with the added benefit of no bulb replacement. LED DLP RPTV's are in their infancy and currently do not offer superior picture quality. IMO. They will only get better.
Good Luck,
AD

Thanks for the many suggestions. I guess until there is a definitively better tv in the 70"+ range, I will just enjoy the Sony. I was just watching some HD programming and the picture still amazes me. :)

Another option is to look for a used SXRD 70" XBR2.
