However, the XBox 360 only supports DTS or DD as its audio output and XBox 360's fan can be pretty distracting during quiet moments. With 5000, you can have better audio output (analog 7.1 or HDMI HD Audio codec bitstream). But it largely depends on what kind of receiver you have. Also, on 1080i materials, 5000 will do a better job de-interlacing to 1080p than XBox 360. Ph8te 07-29-08, 10:17 PM IMO The 5000 is the better player. I have both and haven't looked back since. While the HDi may not be a smooth since the 5K uses a "home brew" version, it is in no way slow enough to be really an issue. Right now my Add On is more of a backup for my HD DVDs then anything as it is just collecting dust since the 5K was added. alanl715 10-07-08, 04:22 PM i have a samsung bdup5000 going hdmi into my Onkyo txsr905. everytime i put in a DTS MA disc and i pause, fast review, etc, i hear a pop thru the speakers. works fine other than that and the receiver doesn't pop with fm, cable, etc. any suggestions? thx, alan Foxbat121 10-07-08, 04:41 PM You Onkyo needs a firmware update to fix DTS-MA issue. And you should post your own thread instead post in this unrelate thread. alanl715 10-08-08, 12:43 PM You Onkyo needs a firmware update to fix DTS-MA issue. FB - thanks for the response...That's just it...according to Onkyo and the firmware gurus on this site...i have the latest firmware-verified it myself. Just thought there may be something else you could add. Appreciate it. lsarver 10-25-08, 06:22 PM FB - thanks for the response...That's just it...according to Onkyo and the firmware gurus on this site...i have the latest firmware-verified it myself. Just thought there may be something else you could add. Appreciate it. It's a DSP update you need, not the general firmware. Different software, different upate procedure. Check the The Onkyo/Integra direct firmware updates (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1016297) thread, if you haven't already taken care of this. |
