View Full Version : Xbox 360 streaming ? ChrisCollins 07-29-08, 10:16 PM I know almost no one here would use their 360 for streaming music, but does anyone know if it can play WMA lossless? thanks paul9luap 08-12-08, 08:29 PM I know almost no one here would use their 360 for streaming music, but does anyone know if it can play WMA lossless? thanks Why would people not use it to stream music? I have a PC with Vista Premium and I stream music to the xbox360, which then outputs via HDMI to my Onkyo TX-SR805. When playing a CD in my Oppo 980 DVD player, the CD sounds a lot better than when I stream the WMA-9 Lossless cd-rip from my Vista pc via the xbox360. Sorry, I didn't answer your question but just added my own. ;) taylorjes 08-23-08, 07:55 PM So I don't really have an answer rather more questions.. I'm running an old XP Pro SP3 comp, an original SKU Xbox 360 (RRoD 2x) and a Gateway Tablet PC. I'm also running a similarly old Sony (what I cannot tell anymore) analog reciever. I just bought and setup a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 500G Raid-X. I've been able to stream MP3 and WMA fairly well (wired and wireless g), and I found that the WMA lossless is a bit glitchy and some files are noticably degraded. My questions (that I'm tagging because, I'm sorry I can't find the answers) are regarding video streaming. I am searching for an end-all opinion. 1. What format is the 'best' for DVD streaming to the Xbox? Video/Audio precision, not size. 2. What software will allow myself (decent computer experience) and my wife (Myspace/Facebook experienced) to create/control/simpilfy the process? 3.What (if any) other advice would one recommend? (other than upgrading my bases to digital, because I''m also in the process of finalizing that) Jeff Flowerday 08-24-08, 11:25 AM Yes if you use Windows Media Player sharing it works. As others have said, it's not the best sounding solution but it does work. Jeff Flowerday 08-24-08, 11:32 AM So I don't really have an answer rather more questions.. You can then just take an image of the DVD and it will play it. Nothing gets simpler than that. AnyDVD, a couple clicks and it's ready to play via Popcorn Hour. To much converting/massaging to get it to play on the XBox 360 especically in original quality. |
