Hello, I currently own an InFocus SP4805 projector, but about 3 months ago, my bulb went out, with about 760 hrs on it. I was in between graduating from college and moving to NY for a job so I put everything on hold. Now that I've got my job I'm trying to get back into the home theater scene. I had my 4805 for about a year before the bulb died, and I see replacements going for $300, however a lot of reviews say the bulbs died after 200-300 hours, which for $300 is terrible. So I have thought about just getting out of the projector scene and buying a 42-52" HDTV, but I read around and saw that the IN72 is a great projector to move onto from the 4805.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm definately looking for a budget projector, and would like to spend under $700. Also, where would be the best place to get an IN72, either used or new?

Thanks for your help!

The IN72 is a great projector, but it's grossly overpriced today (and only 480p, like your 4805). There was a time when you could pick it up for under $500, but lately it's been closer to $800.

Now since that's the case, there are much better buys out there. The Mitsubishi HC1500 and Sharp DT510 can be found for under $800 and both are 720p projectors. Read some of the threads on these projectors. There's never been a better time to get a projector. Of course, in six months, it will be even better, but you can't wait forever. Electronics get better and cheaper over time. It's just a fact of life.

Also, check your local Bestbuy for an HC1500. They are on closeout. Here are other options
