I can't seem to play two dual-layer BD movies such as Jumper and Shutter.
PowerDVD 7.3 just hangs when it tries to read the disk.

Lite-On DH-4O1S-08 product says it reads dual-layer BD media.

Anyone with this drive able to play ANY BD dual-layer movie?
Thanks.

Can you play any OTHER two-layer movies? Without waiting for your reply, I'd say it's more likely that PowerDVD has software issues rather than that your drive is malfunctioning. But you can find out easily (even if you don't have any other movies). Try to copy the disc content to your hard drive (it's just a bunch of files, encrypted or otherwise, doesn't matter at all for what you want to do). You'll either get a read error, or you won't.

I'm trying to find a list of All BD50 movies but doesn't seem this forum contains that list. I know Jumper and Shutter are BD50 format, and both didn't work.

I tried to use windows explorer to read the contents of Jumper, and it just spins and not recognize the disc. Didn't try with Shutter.

http://www.blu-raystats.com/Stats/Stats.php

Go to the drop-down menu "Size..." and choose "BD50", then hit the "Filter" button.

Hi golazo - if you look on the back of the blu-ray case it will, in most cases, tell you whether it is on a BD25 or BD50...

Also, have you ever upgraded the drives firmware? The most recent version ont he site is 3/26/08 - so perhaps an upgrade could do the trick...

Good luck!

EDIT:
Just did a little searching on a possible suspicion - i knew that Jumper introduced a new version of BD+ and may be the same case with shutter - apparantly if you install AnyDVD HD (removes protection) it will work - check out this thread for more info:

The disc may not be recognized if you don't have UDF 2.5 file system installed (Vista has it, but XP doesn't), so if you're using XP, the drive may still be fine. I didn't think of this when I asked you to try to copy it. I was assuming that you use Vista.

You can tell that a disc is two-layer if it has two barcodes on the inner ring -- each layer has a separate barcode.

If you don't have any, I guess you can always go to your local Blockbuster and rent Casino Royale, or Pirates, or any early two-layer BD known to play alright with PowerDVD (still the most likely culprit).
