I also posted this question to the Home theater builder section.

I just bought an older house, which is overall in good shape for its age. The problem is the living room, which I want to use as a theater, has 2 prong outlets. Depending on what is inside the walls, this may require a complete rewire of the circuit I want to use.

Here is the problem. Modern code requires AFCI (arc fault circuit interruption) in living rooms. Digital projectors use arc lamps. Will the projector trip an an AFCI breaker or does its internal wiring serve as a buffer.

Someone here with a projector and a new house could probably tell me.

No it will not, I currently have mine hooked up to one along with all my AV equipment.

Thanks. That's what I thought. With AFCI mandatory this forum would probably be buzzing with complaints if it did.

No because the projector's power supply isolates the circuit from the main power line. The 'arc' occurs within the lamp (delivered by the power supply) and not between the main power lines, so it remains undetected by the AFCI circuit breaker.
