My original post was lost in the avsforum crash.

I pulled my ReplayTV3060 out of mothballs to give to my parents. I booted it up and it powers on, then shows "Please Wait a Few Moments" then the tv goes black, then it reboots. It does this over and over.

I pulled the drive, put in another one with a fresh 3xxx / showstopper image and I get the same results.

When I boot the device w/o any hard drive, it just hangs on the "Please Wait a few Moments" screen and never reboots, but naturally never gets past that point.

When I put it away in my closet back in 2003 (in favor of a 5xxx series still in use today), it was working fine, no issues. 5 years later it just reboots over and over w/two different hard drives.

I also tried unplugging EVERYTHING except for the power cable and the tv outs. Still same behavior.

Is there anything else I can try, or does it seem that this unit is totally dead?

EDIT: Found this:
http://www.replayfaqs.com/4DCGI/Detail_FAQ_Display?ID=263&Session=PQMFQGMVJOMLBWT

and it says 2 things: 1) check the cables 2) check the slave setting on the jumper.

I'm dead sure that #2 is set right.

Think theres any harm in trying a new IDE cable? It looked OK to me... but I dont know.

No harm in replacing the IDE cable.

I'd also mess with the jumper settings anyway (i.e. try Master with No Slave, Master With Slave, and Cable select).

If you're sure the new hard drive is correctly formatted you may have to turn to Mikeyboy for a motherboard.

Yea, I think its a lost cause.

Tried a new IDE cable, no change (still reboots), and messed with jumper settings.

Did you check the pins in the cables that connect the power supply to the motherboard and hard disk for discoloration / burn marks?

I'll check the pins that connect the powersupply... but the hard disk.... I've tried two separate hard drives, both with the same results :(

Do you think it could be incorrect voltage being supplied to the hard drive?

I have a multimeter and check each of the 4 pinouts that power the hard drive to be sure.

This one is really killin me... this machine would be PERFECT for the 'rents and it pains me to tell them I can't get it working.
