I recently got my first widescreen LCD TV. I was under the impression that DVDs should now show w/o letterbox on movies in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. But the Death Proof DVD last night had letterbox.

Any ideas?

I believe the aspect ratio of that movie is 2.35:1 Therefore it would be letterboxed.
