Finally ExpressVU is offering expanded recording via their 9242 HDTV PVR with the latest firmware .

I purchsed a WD 500GB My book drive and plugged it into the rear USB 2.0 port. I then went into menu and chose multimedia and chose to add external HDD . The HDTV PVR asked to format the drive as it was new and then it restarted and viola there it was listed in the recoding list as external drive.

I then finished watching the Olympics in glorious 1080i off air using built in ATSC tuner bringing in CBC channel .

I then went back into the multimedia menu and chose to archive my recorded HDTV movies and concerts which it informed me it would take 5 hrs 24 min .

This is a break through and you can use any manufacturer of any size drive...

Kudos to Bell for offering this service and to giving us tons of HDTV Olympic coverage with 2 dedicated exclusive channels with no commercials and no annoying talking heads just the sweet sounds of competition :)

The futures so bright I got to wear shades

DO you know the format of the files on your external hard drive? Any chance you tried them on a PS3 or Xbox 360 to play them??

I have my PVR in my living room, but my PS3 and Xbox 360 are in my basement. Wold be nice to take an external hard drive downstairs once in a while to watch the odd show.

I have the Bell 9242 and have connected a Lacie 750GB external hard drive and I'm have problems watching programs that have been archived onto the hard drive. The program will play for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes and then stop,A pop-up error message comes on the sceen saying that I have disconnected a multimedia device from the usb port,I have to turn the power on and off on the hard drive to reestablish the connection again and the same thing happens all over again.I tried a new cable and a new hard drive and the same thing is happining.I also cannot restore the programs back to the receive either. The reciever has V182 software and I've tried using Bell's online E-mail to talk to their so called support techs(was no help at all)I don't really want to phone the 1-888 skydish line-life is to short to sit on hold for that long.Has anyone on this great site had problems?Any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated.
