whats taking cablevision so long to offer more hd channels. I have cablevision and I want the sci-fi channel to go hd. Who cares about those hd travel oe weather channels. Is it difficult to show more hs channels, or does it cost more.

As of today who has the most hd channels and why does direct satellite have so many hd channels.

This is a local issue. Try bringing it up in the proper Local Forum thread appropriate to your location.

why does direct satellite have so many hd channels.Because when they launch a satellite, it can provide service to all subscribers. When a cableco wants to upgrade, they have dozens, or hundreds of systems to upgrade.

Cable is a pain in the butt. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and I had Wide Open West cable. They offered only 19 HD channels outside of the locals (3 of them were HBO, Cinemax, Starz). I just switched to DirecTV on Sunday and its a whole new world. I'm sure you are getting more HD channels than I previously was through my cable company.

To the OP: quit whining!! Time Warner writes the book on "SUCK" when it comes to HD channels. Even systems that have the capacity do not carry available channels. NE Ohio added a few this year and we're still missing at least 3. Even other areas in Ohio get MHD and National Geographic HD.

One of the biggest barriers is that the many legacy MSOs offer customers the ability to have (analog) service on every television in your home, without a box, while all the other video service providers insist on you having a box on each television. That's an advantage to cable that they will not and should not casually give up, just to add more HD channels (and it would make a difference).
