View Full Version : Is anyone making RPTV CRTs anymore?

Just asking..I know, could do research, but doesn't this count? :p

Asking for the folks - I got them a beautiful Hitachi HD RPCRT a couple years ago - they loved it - but it died in the last flood we had. Loaned them an lcd panel for temp, but would sure like to find them another HD rp unit.

So - are there ANY still being made? (I checked, the Hitachi is now an archived product - that doesn't sound good.)

I know, I know - projectors are best, and for a plain old tv, nothings going to beat my Sony 960, but I'm looking for something in the 55" range to keep an older, tech-challenged couple happy for a few years.

Any ideas? -- thanks.

I don't believe anyone makes them anymore, but you shouldn't have any problems finding a used one at a very, very good price.

You can still get refurbished xxf59 series Hitachis at UEC Web at great prices. Last I looked ,the 57" was about $699 delivered. If they don't have any, keep checking. Stock seems to fluctuate.

I think that the CRT die-hards would disagree with you on that.

Yes - please, no dlp...if I want to become nauseous, I'll go on a roller coaster ride. (hold the rainbows, please)

I have 3 pjs - all crt - a neat little Runco, and a pair of 9" HD Ampros (no snickers, please.) Have yet to watch a dlp that I could stand for over 5 minutes.

Get an LED DLP set. Much less likely to see any rainbows since there is no color wheel.
