No one can predict what someone else will notice. No SD-DVD player will put you into a new realm of video quality, but I have been pleased with my Oppo players.

If you are not already doing it, I recommend a using calibration disc before spending on new hardware.

We generally steer DLP owners away from Faroudja-chip players like the 981. The 980 and 983 are fine for DLP.
