Hey, I got the pioneer dv410 about 2 weeks ago. great dvd player upscaling on it is good, which is all i use it for. But i was wondering if anyone has compared the pio elite dv48 with the 410? any difference? is it worth getting the 48?

How much did you pay for the Pioneer? The DV-48 is on sale for $99 at Vanns

Just got mine today and LOVE it so far. Much better than the Denon 1930Ci it replaced. Although PQ is about the same, the ability to send DSD via HDMI is a huge difference.

Darn, if I waited one more week I could have received it for $30 less new. What the heck.

The MSRP listed on Pioneer web site for DV48 is $299 and $99 for DV-410. Although most internet sites sells DV48 from $99 to $149, it is still a batter player than DV410:
1. You get Elite warranty which is 2-year IIRC compare to regular non-Elite product warranty.
2. DV48 also plays DVD-Audio and SACD hi-res audio.
3. DV48 also offers 5.1 analog audio output with better DAC than DV410.

DV48 certainly is a better deal so far. Is it a better DVD player than DV410? That totally depends on your personally requirements. For me, the only reason I purchased DV48 is for HDMI 1.2 DVD-Audio and SACD capability (I've already owned two other DVDAudio/SACD universal players w/o HDMI). I don't need any more standalone DVD upscaler (already has a Reon equipped BD player for that).

I am trying to compare the same 2 DVD players. My main concern is the picture and sound quality for DVD movies as price between the 2 are basically the same.

Also on the CNET review of the pioneer elite(doesn't give a model number) it says as a CON - This unit lacks DTS output capability, so it will not play back DTS soundtracks.

Does any one on here have any thoughts on DTS for the DV48?

It has the DTS logo on it. So I would assume it does DTS.
