Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone here built a custom door for there HT room i am thinking of doing this and wanted to see if anyone else has down this i was thinking of maybe doing 3 layers of MDF sandwiched together with green glue please post details and pics if anyone has done this.

Holy Moly! That'd be a heavy, heavy door! Make sure your framing and hinges are up to it. MDF also doesn't hold screws very well, so you'll have to reinforce the areas where hinges/screws go with wood that's securely glued into the door, otherwise the weight of the door will pull it from the screws and hinges.

That's kinda what I did, although mine is only two layers of MDF. I glued and lag bolted a 2x4 to the hinge side of the door to support it, and I built the door frame with a double 2x6 on the hinge side. Using four hinges, too.

That was my fear that the door would be so heavy and i know mdf is prone to split sands how did the 2X4 and the lag bolts work did it split the mdf at all?
