I searched the forums for these numbers and can up blank, so can anyone shed any light on the features of these new units?

I originally called D* to inquire about a HR21P in D*'s term, HR21 Pro in our terms, just to satisfy my own curiosity that a poster who claimed he was able to buy one directly from D* for $199 was sadly mistaken (he was and will be getting a HR21 for the price he paid, but I digress).

But, when going through the documentation, the CSR said the only new unit availble directly from Directv is the H23-600. I said wait a minutes, what's a H23-600? She went through the features and I did not hear any different than the H21 (although she said 2 week guide and it did not need B Band Convertors-I wasnt about to ask if that was all connections not needing B-Band as I figured that was over her head). I asked if perhaps this had an ATSC OTA tuner. She searched the specs and said it doesn't look like it as she could not find anything about it. I then said maybe this works with the AM21 where the H21 doesn't.

So she looks up the AM21 specs - and tells me "this only works with the HR21, the HR21P or the HR22". Of course, I said....back up....what's the HR22? She looked and could not find any info on it except that it worked with the AM-21 and said that it must be a DVR that is about to come out.

So I asked again, is the H23-600 ready to come out" She responded, "no people already have had trouble with it - its recently began shipping and we have a checklist for troubleshooting".

So, does anyone know what the technical specs of the HR22 or the H23-600 are or what makes it different than the previous H21 or HR21?

The H23-600 is essentially an H21 with a wideband internal tuner such that it doesn't need the BBC workaround. The HR22 is most likely the same idea, albeit for the HR21. Functionally they should be identical, and the H23 doesn't support the AM21 any more than the H21. One of those units, or possibly both, will likely support the AM21 in the future, but not today, and not particularly soon.

Thanks. Guess I was correct in guessing the B-Band explanation from the feature set. She did say it had a 2 week EPG. I don't remember if the current models go out 2 weeks or not - but everything else listed as feature sounded the same.

The H23 does not have a eSata Port and on the H21 you can add a external Hard drive, I haded a 1TB and now I can Store 200 hours of HD instead of 20 hours so if you get the H23 (the new model) they left the port of.

It sounds like he is asking about receivers rather than DVRs. H2x not HR2x. So no drives involved.

Plus he was asking about them a year ago...
