i have a 42'' lcd hd tv w/ my macbook pro and was wondering on how best to calibrate the set.

previously i just plugged it in via dvi->hdmi and calibrated the tv using the apple calibration utility to make a custom philips setting to what i liked. This worked great in the past. I recently reinstalled leopard and I didnt back up my color profile.

so my question is should i use initally the adobe or sRGB. I primarily use my t.v. for watching movies off my external drive. At least now I know why my color was a lil bit off from my laptop moniter.

You calibrate the display, not the device. Adobe and sRGB apply to photos and photo editing, not motion picture.

Rec 709 is the "color space" for video.
