To All,
Recently moved and upgraded my HDTV and signed up for Dish Networks/AT&T. PQ, etc was perfection for a week..and then the HD DVR receiver died. So Dish comes out and swaps the receiver for a new and "functioning" one. As soon as the receiver acquired its signal, any layman could tell something wasn't quite right. Here's a run down of things that are occurring now that WEREN'T occurring with the first receiver before it bit the dust:
1) Channels like ESPN, CNN, CNBC, etc display their scrolls nearly 3 inches from the bottom of the picture. Scores in a game a 3 inches from the top of the screen. In those 3 inches stretched across the bottom and top of the picture are shadowed, "pixely" strips.
2) I'm now showing a thin, vertical red and white line on the very left edge of NBC.
3) All commercials, even those filmed in HD, are lopped off on the right and left sides of the screen.
4) Other stations are lopped off on the top, bottom, left and/or right sides.
5) The channel guide is truncated on the right side of the screen.
I never experienced ANY of the issues with the first receiver that I'm now facing with the second. Let me say that again. I NEVER had any of these issues with the first receiver. That leads me to believe it's a receiver issue in one capacity or another (faulty, configuration, etc.)
The bottom line is there are varying levels of issues with ALL channels. I'm confused as the next person as I would assume there would be some uniformity with the issues I'm facing, but that's not the case. I haven't touched a setting on the TV at any point between having the first receiver swapped out for the second. Dish tech said these issues are typical and that I must be "scrutinizing" the picture more now that I had the initial issue, but that's complete BS.
He did test another receiver and this one produced similar inconsistencies with regard to PQ, but it actually produced different size black bars and different inconsistencies than the other "faulty" receiver.
Anybody in the know care to explain what might be occurring or know of a fix? I consider myself relatively technically inclined, but have little knowledge in this specific area.
FYI - I own a Samsung 46" 550 LCD and utilize a DIsh Network VIP622 DVR. I have the aspect ratio set to 16x9 w/ the TV type set to the max, 1080i. These settings are via the Dish receiver.
Thanks for any and all help!
