How far off of the back wall should I place this "screen wall"?
I'm trying to figure my sconce placement and I can't get it symmetrical if I can't figure out where that wall should be.
I've currently got it figured at a 20" dead space behind....second guessing if this is enough? I plan on adding 2" of wall treatments as well.
I think it really depends on what kind of speakers and sub you are going to use. I did my wall at 24" that gave me plenty of room for some big speakers
Yup, it'll depend on you. Figure out how deep your speakers are, how much room you want between speakers and treatments, treatment thickness. Then add somewhere between 2"-12" spacing from the speakers to the AT screen. I've heard 6" to a foot, but I believe Sandman (SMX screen guy) has mentioned he's seen little effect with his material down to a few inches.
Since I was building out a new wall and I wasn't sure what speakers I'd have long term, I went for 3' total depth.

Mine is 30" deep, and if I would have gone 36" it would have made things much easier.

Thanks for the heads up...I've got some old Mirage tower speakers I'm going to use for awhile but I want to upgrade eventually.
I was more concerned with subwoofer depth I guess.
I need to look at some dimensions of some subs and go from there.
I didn't know if there was some "magical dimension" that everyone tried to shoot for to cover most everything.
I think the 30" should be plenty but I'm going to research some speakers.
