Hello, I live in southern California, and I have Time Warner cable. I decided to buy a Samsung DTB-H260F from Circuit City today because I didn't feel like paying $9 a month to TW. I'm getting all the digital channels perfectly with this STB but what happened to the analog channels like 2,4,5,7,8,9,11..40 etc.??? When I did a channel scan I told the box to do a STD Cable scan and all I'm getting are digital channels. Any help appreciated.

That's because the Samsung DTB-H260F can ONLY tune ATSC and QAM channels - there is no NTSC (analog) tuner in this device. RTFM. However - it will pass them through, though this works best when the Samsung is left powered on.

Thanks Scooper, how can it pass through the chanels? Do you mean by hooking up the TV out? That would suck though to have to flip inputs on the TV just to watch cable. I used to have an LG LST-4200A I believe and it took care of all of the analog and digital channels. Should I return this STB then and get something that does both NTSC and QAM? Any recommendations?

I have been helping a friend with Time-Warner in Santa Clarita over the phone and he gets a digital copy of all of the channels that used to be on analog. The channel numbers will be different and with QAM the cable company does not provide a channel chart. You should look through your channels carefully and can probably make your own chart based on the logos in the corner of the screen on many channels. You could even split the signal and hook up an old analog TV in the same room with it tuned to a known analog channel and then look for the digital version.

Don't hold your breath.

Held my breath for a nanosecond but then realized the phd-205 can tune all 3.

Yes but isn't this unit missing HDMI output?

Yes, just hook a cable from you DT260F's RF output to your TV's RF input. Then you can watch the analog channels with your TV's tuner and the digital ones with the DT260F. Make sure to leave the DT260F on when watching analog.

It is inconvenient, although I've been doing this for about a year with satellite (switch to S-video for satellite TV, switch back to the DT260F for OTA HDTV) and have gotten used to it by now. A good universal remote helps.

Anybody know if there are any ATSC, QAM, NTSC with HDMI outputs? Maybe even a discontinued one that I could get from ebay.

It has DVI. You would need to use the optical output for audio. Perhaps not as convenient as hdmi but all digital if that is what you are looking for.

Ok, I think I found something. The TIVO HD has HDMI. I was wondering if this unit can be used as a TV tuner without using the DVR functionality of it. It's not going to have a nag screen every couple of minutes or something is it to sign up to their service?

I don't think that you can use the TIVO at all without signing up and paying a monthly fee. Has nothing to do with the DVR.
