I am in the process of going through the final steps of my home theater. It has two windows that let in a considerable amount of ambient light even when the blinds are closed. I would like to install some remote control black out blinds that come with channels (or whatever technology) to ensure no light will get through but at a touch of a button I can have the blinds completely open. I am naturally concerned about the cost of these but I do want something that will work. Many times there is a consensus on this forum about what product is best. Can someone offer a recommendation or if you already know what is considered best please pass that on. Many thanks.

Really? No consensus on this type of product? Any recommendations? I would rather not shoot in the dark if I can help it.

I come from the world of pro AV design, so the only motorized shades I'm familiar with are from Draper Shade and Screen...they're pricey, but good.

I picked up a cheap unit made by Kallox from Ebay. It is in the Harmony database, so I set it up to open and close with my various activities on the remote. It is pretty cheaply made and the directions read like a Chinese take out menu. I built a nice cornice board above it and we have some red velvet curtains with gold trim on them. Someday I intend to post some pictures of the set up.

I just read your post again and noticed you were looking for blinds not curtains, I believe Kallox makes blind sets also. The Ebay seller was Canadian if that helps.

You can go to here - Just blinds (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=lxDetbZsIZc&offerid=116505.10000028&type=3&subid=0)

The 1" and 2" premium wood blinds offer a "motorized tilter" and "remote control" option. You can select these option in the "Controls" section when customizing your blinds.
