How does everyone hook up a small TV in their equipment closet to simultaneously display video on their projector? I'm hoping to do this with an Onkyo 606 using composite hook ups? Is this possible or do I need a better receiver?

I'd think some sort of 1 hdmi in 2 hdmi out box would be easiest, or a receiver that has 2 hdmi outputs.

Problem is, I'm hoping to pick up a cheap 13" at a garage sale or something, don't really need a flat panel or HDTV just to make adjustments...

I use monitor out composite from the amp to a TV. Also, HDMI to a splitter.

but what are you going to feed it from? You could run analog cables from all your source equipment I suppose, but that just made it pretty complex.

As govschmo said, use the Monitor Out on the Onkyo (composite) to connect to a Line In on the TV. Should be good to go. I do this with my Denon to a 12" TV.

but what do you see on this tv? the onkyo wont transcode down to composite for any of the signals so you'll only see the onkyo OSD and anything you have hooked up via composite. Unless you're running a composite cable from all your video sources too, which isnt a horrible idea.

I guess that was my question... whether or not the receivers would do this with a monitor out composite... I may just run the extra cables...

I am going to be using a 17" flat panel computer monitor for mine. It has composite, component and DVI inputs.

It all depends on what you receiver will support for simultaneous connections.
