A friend of mine just picked up a PS3 and COD4 with my recommendation for online play but he is not able to log into the multiplayer online servers. He can play single player but cannot get online. His email to me:

Tell him to log into the network prior to being in game.

sounds like an incorrect password to me...

He tried that and still gets the error message even though he is already logged into the PSN. Any other ideas?

Error 33 is a matchmaking server error. If it doesn't go away, try turning off UPnP in the network settings.
