Hi all,
I am looking for a pair of bass shakers for the couch. Saw a pair of Aura's for $85 on Ebay. Are these going to do the job or should I upgrade to the Buttkickers? Looking for that tight detailed bass response. They are going to be bolted on to a sectional couch in a very small theatre room and be paired with an Onkyo 606, the polk rm6750 5.1 package and a PS3.
Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated!!
Chris

2 Aura Pros on a couch won't exactly shake the hell out of it. This is the route I went, and while they are somewhat cheap and kind of cool, I will eventually be adding 2 more Aura Pros to the 2 I already have. I think 2 on a good sized couch is not enough to shake the whole thing. You can pretty much only feel mine if you are sitting in the sweet spots. I think 3 or 4 would be ideal. But of course you can always do like I did and buy two and go from there.

mintchris, try (www.partsexpress.com) first before any auction site.. (aura bass shaker) the price seem to be alittle more reasonable.. I don't have any bass shakers myself I would like to try them though.. I'm running a pair of Buttkickers one on the couch and one on the luv seat.. They work TOO GOOD..:D If you are a fan of the LFE (.1) Go for the RUMBLE in the JUNGLE. (www.thebuttkicker.com) I have them mounted inside the frame work of the couches...

Think about the effect you want to achieve before you spend the money on something expensive. I went with some shakers for cheap from parts express, and its more than enough to get me what I want. Basically I wanted something that would just blend with my subs and make the whole experience fun. If I turn these cheap ones up too high, its just distracting. So I would have been pretty upset with myself if I spent more than 150 on the project.

Hello,

I have been using tactile transducers in my systems for quite a few years.

I started out with an array of eight RBH FX-80's (discontinued high end Aura's). I used these for about a year and replaced the entire array with a pair of Clark Synthesis (http://www.clarksynthesis.com/) TST 329 Gold models and then stepped up to their TST 429 Platinums. For a brief period I installed four Crowsen Tech TES-100 units. (http://www.crowsontech.com/)

For the last several years I now use "original" Buttkickers. My current setup is a pair of ButtKickers each driven by a bridged Crown K2 amplifier.

Yes first consider how much you would like to spend on a tactile transducer setup and the performace you want to achieve. Test out various manufactures models if possible. There is a huge performance difference between tactile transducers. The low end models do not extend as deep and will not compete with the highend models. That said I was very pleased with my RBH setup while I was using it.

I lowpass my original ButtKickers at 20 Hz and blend them in with my subwoofers. Currently they are used to augment and extend the lowend of a pair of Velodyne HGS-18's. My duel Epik Conquests are being delivered this morning. I will use them with the Conquests as well. Any manufactures tactile transducers setup can be distracting if not integrated properly.

Remember... it's not a carnival ride! :)
