View Full Version : The Middleman on ABC Family-HD
rebkell 08-19-08, 01:26 AM Wonder if there is any chance this show gets renewed. I really like this show, finally got to see it in HD tonight, seemed to have just a slight a/v sync problem, maybe 100ms or less. If it gets canceled, I would want to PMGO :)
jabbathespud 08-19-08, 01:50 AM I've keeping all of them on HR20. Now I want a Middleman marathon so I can replace the SD version with HD.
I certainly hope it gets renewed. It's probably the show that causes the most laughter for me.

Oh I would love it, if they ran a marathon
NetworkTV 08-19-08, 05:39 AM Same here. It looks so much better on the HD channel - and widescreen, too. ABC family in SD is a muddy mess.
bicker1 08-19-08, 06:53 AM Early word I read was "not likely", but I hope it does get renewed.

I thought this show was pretty dumb when it started, but now, unfortunately, I've come to appreciate its brand of humor.
I say unfortunately because it probably will get axed. Too bad. Just saw the first episode in HD this week and the HD really added a lot to it.
rebkell 08-26-08, 01:09 PM Dub Dub has certainly been getting a lot more exposure lately. :D

Oh, yeah. :D
rebkell 09-02-08, 01:04 AM Well, tonight was probably the last episode, I enjoyed every last one of them. Here's to hoping ABC-Family gives it another shot.
Wonder how long before we know for certain if it's gone or not?
petergaryr 09-02-08, 02:42 PM Just finished watching it. Probably one of the best episodes of the season IMHO. Loved the "evil" Dub Dub.
Loved the show - easily my favorite summer series this year. I hope it does get renewed!
jdonigan 09-02-08, 03:25 PM Same here. My wife kept watching it just to humor me, but she finally admitted that she likes it.

I'm all for a Middleman marathon. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get people to let ABC Family know (via it's Middleman discussion Forum, via e-mail, etc.) that we want it renewed, but to at least give it another chance with a Marathon or reairing of the episodes.
I recently got a copy of the source comic The Middleman: The Collected Series Indispensability and it really gave me an appreciation of the first episodes which closely followed the comic.
A bit off topic, is AbcFamily HD in 5.1? I have these all recorded on my DVR and want to transfer them to my computer, but if the Middleman is in 5.1 I will wait until the Hauppauge comes out with the 5.1 drivers.
Well, since about 98% of Middleman seems to be conversation.....does it really matter? But it does appear to have a tiny bit of sound in the other 4 speakers. Sometimes. And my receiver claims Dolby Digital. So that means it's actual 5.1 arriving at my house. Don't know what mess it goes through before that. This is based on the Palindrome ep, which is the only one I have so far from the HD channel. Somehow I didn't realize I had ABCHD til recently.
lgodave 09-16-08, 12:23 AM I don't get HD content but other then my DirecTV recievers all having Dolby Digital Output and the occasional HBO program in 5.1 which my A/V Receiver will display as 5.1 encoded... I haven't a clue if Middleman is 5.1 or not. Best of luck on that front.
rebkell 10-21-08, 10:38 AM Any news on Middleman? It's not looking too promising, I wouldn't think they would take this long if they were going to renew it for another season. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has heard anything about DubDub and the gang?
petergaryr 10-21-08, 11:01 AM The last I heard was this (http://io9.com/5027786/dont-middle+panic-middleman-not-canceled-says-abc-family), though I can't determine how reliable the information is.

Unfortunately, that link was from July so it doesn't really apply to the Post-Season 1 time we're in right now.
At least the abcfamily website still has The Middleman listed as a Show and a somewhat active Forum. So we have a place to go at least...

I know, but that's all I could turn up. I suppose not having any recent news may be a good sign. I hope.

Yep, it is odd how silent everyone seems to be about The Middleman... would figure there would be some "main stream" chatter.
rebkell 02-19-09, 08:41 PM Looks like it finally got canceled, still not an official announcement, but I don't think any of us expected renewal after this length of time:

Another story with the press release about the comic book and DVD:

Drat! Was a refreshing and witty sci-comedy with some great cast chemistry. Hope the DVD does well maybe it will return.
gaderson 07-27-09, 11:56 PM Well, the DVDs are on the way, I'll need to reset my Season Pass to record anything as now they'll be repeats if they ever show them.
VisionOn 08-03-09, 07:33 AM The final episode. Kind of.

lgodave 08-03-09, 10:28 AM The Middleman Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse Graphic Novel which is the Comic form of the above "episode" should be available for purchase... yet you may need to check with your local comic shop or bookstore. It seems a bit difficult to find. I had similar problems getting a copy of "The Middleman: The Collected Series Indispensability" last year.
ISBN: 0980238587

The link below provides a summary and some pics of the previously mentioned table read of Episode 13 from ComicCon. Should you not have the bandwidth or time to view the entire reading...

lgodave 08-09-09, 03:45 PM I'm having a hard time with finding a copy of the graphic novel "Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse"... There is even an insert in the DVD Set Case that says it should be available but the ISBN hasn't been showing up in any of the bookstores/comic shops I've checked at the moment.
