I want to buy an indoor antenna to have my local hdtv signal but i was wondering which one is good ?

Is it better to plug the antenna in the dish network receiver or directly on the tv ?

Not knowing your location or reception requirements makes it about impossible to recommend anything to you.

and even maybe put on the roof but i don't know if it require a booster or amplifier or any other modification (maybe ground it ?) since it's ouside.

I have tried many antennas. The one that Im keeping and works flawlessly for me is the RCA ANT806 from Walmart. I get all my channels no problems. It is located in attic. It worked very well hidden in a closet also, only one channel had a little glitch when in closet.

This antenna was rated just a hair better, thicker construction, etc.
Philips MANT950, almost exactly the same as ANT806.

No but it is a similar cofiguration, probably the elements are real similar. However on cursory examination the amplifier is not as strong. The ANT806 has 18db gain aplification, and the ANT711 has 10db gain amplification.

Whether that makes much difference in your situation, who can say?

I guess it depend what you can from where you are.

Outdoor will always bring a stronger signal, but can be overkill in some situations.
