I have a Sony HD200 receiver. I use it for OTA and analog cable. I get a very basic cable service right now. Its not digital cable.

My question is when Feb 17 roles around will I need a converter box for my receiver or can it accept a cable signal after Feb 17 without a convertor box.

Right now I dont use a cable card.

Thank You

Feb 2009 has absolutlly nothing to do with cable or satellite. It only stops OTA broadcasting of high powered analog stations for which users are using an antenna.

True, but many cable cos will use the OTA shutoff as an excuse cut out many of their current analog chs as well. So the OP, may indeed be losing many chs after Feb 09 - to get them back he'd need an STB. And in the long term all of the analog on cable will eventually go away - it just might not happen next Feb.

The cable companies (with few exceptions) are requied to contiune to carry on analog cable the the primary channels that will be avaialble using a OTA digital tuner until 2012
You are correct of coursse correct that may drop analog channels that they currently supply that are not now and will not be avialable using an OTA digital tuner
