Looking to purchase this set for our bedroom, viewing distance will be 8-9 feet away. From reading the thread, it seems like a waste of $ to go with the higher end 1080p model. Does this set have a swivel base? I searched the thread but couldn't find an answer, where the set will be located it is semi-important that it have a swivel base. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.I just set one of these up for a family member a few days ago and it does not have a swivel base. We initially placed it directly on the credenza and the rubber pads on the on the bottom of the base made it difficult to turn, so we set it on a small soft quilt-like place mat instead and it's now very easy to turn it like a swivel.
You can also get an inexpensive swivel platform and set the TV on that:

I think the only Panny's that have a swivel base are the PZ800 & PZ850 models but I Do Know for sure that the PX80 Does Not Have A Swivel Base.
But I'm pretty sure you can buy a Lazy Susan type Swivel TV Base that will do the same thing or maybe you can buy the 42" TH-42PZ800U Base from Panasonic or find someone that wall mounted their PZ800 & is not using the swivel base & would give it to you or sell it to you really cheap.

I have one in the bedroom... it's great. Don't miss the 1080p at all. I have it with a nice 2.1 sound system that does surround emulation through Dolby Pro-Logic II. Sweet dreams.:)

I also have a 42 inch Panny in our bedroom. We wall mounted it across from the foot of our bed. The only slight downside to a 42-inch plasma in the bedroom is they do throw some heat. It’s only slightly noticeable in the summer though. Even with central air conditioning you can tell the difference when you walk into the room after it’s been on for a while.
Not really anything I’d ever complain about. You’ll just notice it.
EDIT: Oh, and another downside is my wife lost the mirror off her dresser. I heard about that for a while...lol!

Thanks for the responses guys. Randy thanks for the link for the swivel platform, that will make the set work out perfectly. Has anyone ever purchased a plasma from Fry's.com? They have a great price and free shipping as well on this model.
Thank you again.

I know that Panasonics generate some heat in general. The LCD I have get's pretty hot in my bedroom and the plasma gets really hot unless I keep a fan blowing on it.

Well I'm sure the 65x750 will balance out the temp when it starts getting down to 65 degrees in the winter time at night.
