Looked at amazon and their out of stock. Alot of stores/none carry this tv. Is it discontinued? Also my plasma would be 100% gameing only. No movies/no cable, and would the panny 42pz85 also be a good choice? Should I get that since its cheaper.

Yep. Exact quote...

"Effective immediately until current inventory is gone. Panasonic has discontinued this model so when the following inventory is gone there is no more."

Pretty strong to say the least...

If they slashed her, there will be no new model.

I agree with Chris. I am not sure, but having the PZ80 and PZ85 is too many sku's. What Panasonic needs to do is release a 42PZ95U and 42PZ900U for next year. No PX series or 768p models. That way you have PZ95U around $1k price point and keep the PZ900U at the $1.5k price point. Less is more!

Their is a difference in price between 42PX80 and 42PZ80, but not drastic. The market will want affordable 1080p displays as the standard even under $1k.

is there an advantage in owning a 42PZ800 panasonic over the 85 for GAMEING only? Also everybody tells me about a price drop that will happen this sunday. So would best buy be a good place to go on sunday to get the 85?

Bar owners have no need for 1080P. Hopefully 42PX80U will out for a long time ;)
