Apologies in advance that this topic has been touched on before in numerous threads. However, I haven't seen what I would consider to be a straight answer.
For an office application, I am planning on storing a 50-52" panel (plasma or LCD) in a swing-down ceiling-mounted lift--i.e., the panel is stored flat most of the time).
Does this pose any problem for plasma in terms of (a) total failure; (b) performance; (c) useful life?
Are there any issues with powering on the plasma immediately after swinging it down, or swinging it up immediately after powering it off?
If someone forgets to turn off the display prior to swinging it up, and it is powered while in a horizontal position, would that cause any problems?
(If you have any views for LCDs to the extent that the answers differ from those for plasmas, I would be grateful.)
