I notice less and less plasmas in the store and online and am wondering if in general plasmas are fading away to a mainly/exclusive lcd market.

Again, I know little about what is actually going on behind the scenes so I admit I may not know what I am talking about.

I was looking into getting a plasma but at this point I'm not sure if I should or if lcd technology is superior.

In sizes above 50" plasma is a much better bang for your buck.
Plasmas have better off angle viewing, better blacks (Kuro's are untouchable in this department for flat panel), and less artifacts associated with movement. I will probably get hated on for saying this though. Plasma's are considerred by most videophiles to be vastly superior to LCD's. but what do I know? as in all things YMMV.

The quality of the TV you buy today does not diminish if the technology disappears.

Buy what you like and enjoy it.
