From all my lurking on the boards here it seems to me that the general concensus is that the samsungs have alot more IR than Panasonic or Pioneer. I bring this up because i like the 58a650 but if it gets IR after a couple of hours it would have me concerned.

I have noticed this as well. Samsung definately seems to have more reports of it.

Whether this means it is a real problem with Samsungs or not is another thing.

FWIW, I have not noticed any IR at all on my pz80. Panasonic is not perfect though, the pz80/85s have a red push that is difficult to adjust out. So much so that I wouldn't recommend one to anybody who isn't tech savvy.

Local sports bar has a 2007 Samsung plasma. It is almost always tuned to sports with a constant score bug. No IR ever according to the owner.
