I realize this is extremely subjective, but I would like some user input as to what subs I should be looking at, and some ideas as to the pros/cons of different manufacturers.

I currently looking that HSU subs, they seem to consistently get good reviews.

The room is large ~500 sq/ft, and very, very hard (tile floors, no carpeting) so I would like a sub that can effectively fill that space. I'm open to all vendors, and I am going to use this primarily for HT use, with a little music put in there. The music I listen to is typically bass heavy, so, again, power is more important to me then absolute accuracy.

Thanks for any help/suggestions!

two B-stock MFW-15s would be just over $1K shipped...if there are any left.

Epik Tower will dig deeper then the MFW's. But sq ft doesn't have a direct barring on how truely big your room is, we need cu ft and if there are large openings to other rooms.

One Epik Tower? is it under $1K?

Im a huge fan of multiple subs for room correction so while I will not argue the "Dig deeper" comment, I will say that its splitting hairs BOTH setups would be incredible period but with two subs you have a better chance of a better room response.

BTW, Im not an owner...none of them are good enough for $1K, I would build a better DIY sub system but thats just me :D

The room is large, say ~500 sq/ft (with 10' ceilings) . There are openings all over the room, it's an open floor plan (FL, gotta love it), the entire first floor of the home has no doors at all (internal doors) with the exception of the bathroom. So, in total, it's a 1000 sq/ft space, with ~10 ft ceilings throughout. :( I know, that all sucks for bass response.. Trust me.. I know...

I hadn't heard of the MFW's before. Perhaps start with one of them and then get a 2nd? Also, what's up with their site, the price is listed at 599, but when you go to buy it, it costs 699?

What's the deal with the Epik Tower vs. the Castle? Looks like they are pretty similar, is the Tower worth the extra 100 bucks?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Call the guys at av123 - from what I gather they usually have room to work on price.

One Epik Castle vs 2 MFW-15s.. Both look like really good setups, what would you guys expect in comparison of the 2? The room dimensions are given above, and unfortunately, no matter which way I go, the sub(s) have to go in a single corner (no separating them even if I get more then 1).

I would prefer to just have 1 sub; but if the 2 MFWs would provide significantly better performance, I am sure that I can make some room for them (ugh, girlfriend isn't gonna like any of them, let alone if she see 2 boxes!). :)

Thanks again for the help, I definately think I'm narrowing down my choices. Also, if someone could answer my question from above about the Epik's, what's the difference between the Castle and Tower, and is the Tower worth the extra 100 bucks?

Thx!

Direct from Epik.

The lower tuning and larger cabinet improve several aspects of performance. The frequency response is flat to very low frequencies that can’t be heard but can be felt. Along with this, the design provides better sound quality by improving the transient response of the overall system as well as lower group delay.

Absolutely worth the extra $100:D

From AV123:
"Typical in-room response extends to 15-17Hz. Below 20Hz, the average human cannot hear so that is where the shaking really kicks in"

And this is for only one sub. who knows how low you can go with a second.

More output no deeper extension.

I live in FL and I have a very similar open floor plan with 10' ceilings. I currently have 2 MFW-15s in my viewing area which opens to the kitchen and a doorway into the living room/dining room area. I can tell you that dual MFW-15s do not have any problems filling the entire area with bass. I haven't heard the other options in a similar setting, but I do have experience with 2 MFWs and I don't think you will be dissappointed.

As far as the price I would just call them and ask them questions and do the sale over the phone instead of going through the site. They are pretty good about working with you and getting the shipping set up if you decide to buy from them.
