I just picked up an HP C7280 from newegg that has wireless printing. Does anyone know if I can print to a wireless printer, or does it need to be a bluetooth device?

It would probably need to have blue tooth in order to communicate with the PS3.

I just got this printer too and IIRC, it has BT as well. However, I don't see why it would need BT as the PS3 is on the network. I need to read up on this as well, but just for the heck of it as I have no need to print from a PS3.

If it helps the HP 460 comes with a blue tooth option...

If you have the printer hooked up to your network (wireless or hard line) you dont need bluetooth. It will work the same as your PC.

can anyone confirm this?

It only works with Epson and certain Canon printers. I send an email to Sony about HP support but didn't get any.

OK, but can anyone confirm that they were able connect to a printer wirelessly that is connected to a home network. As far as I have ben able to determine you can only print from a printer hardwired to the ps3, no network printing of any kind, so if anyone who personally confirmed that one can connect wirelessly to a printer that is wired into the network, please let the record be that it only works for printers wired to the ps3

I can confirm that my Canon MX-850 printer connected to my network does not work with the PS3.

I have a PS3 connected wirelessly and a wireless networked printer and the ps3 doesn't find it after scanning, so I guess this doesn't work

I've had the same printer running fine since last December. If you setup your network correctly it will work with the PS3. Currently I have them both wired up but did run for a while with 802.11. The IP configuration was the same in both instances, with a static IP for the PS3 and DHCP reservation for the printer that ties it to another specific IP. Printer discovery was quite painless on the Playstation... actually frighteningly easy. The only issues I've had are from turning the printer off and forgetting about it.

What's the point of having a printer on your PS3?? Just curious.

To print games.

Well, you could print photos from the photo area on the XMB. Some games let you take screenshots and save them there also.

No, print game to Blu-ray paper for backup.

not to mention digital copies of movies. it never hurts to have a hard copy backup.

hopefully you can back them up at 24 sheets per second:D

Only one sheet per game.

If you have full duplex blu-ray printer you can backup dual layer 50GB BD disc to one sheet of paper. Much cheaper than using a HDD. The only difficult part is finding a BD scanner when you want to restore your backup, as they're only available via OEM channels.

As per my post in the other PS3 Printing thread, my PS3 80GB prints normally to my HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-one. Both are connected via 802.11g.

Yep. I also have an HP all-in-one, different model tho, it seems its not compatible though what is the point of the network standard option if only a handful of models are compatible

I'm going to start 5 complaint threads on this
