I am looking for a new sub. I tried to upgrade my current sub but it didn't work out. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1055127

My current sub sits in between my front right main speaker and a RP CRT TV. If I get the A2-300 I will only have @1/2 an inch of clearance on the sides. There will be @5 inches of clearance behind the sub. I imagine that doesn't matter since the port is front firing.

Is a 1/2 inch of clearance on the sides enough?

I would think you should be fine. Only problem could be interferance with your CRT. Is the sub shielded?

As long as the port has room(~6" or more ) I think you're fine.
I imagine your in-room response will suffer from non-ideal placement though.
If your AVR has an EQ or you have a seperate one, that will help.
