After finalizing a disc, when I bring up the top menu screen with the thumbnails and titles, there are also a lot of small dots in several rows on this screen. They are only visible when this screen is displayed. They do not appear during playback or on the hard drive. I tried 4 discs of 2 different brands and the dots appear in the same places on all of them. At this point it is only a cosmetic issue in terms of how nice the menu looks, but I am wondering if it is a sign of some corruption in the firmware.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think the firmware needs to be re-flashed?

I have the previous year model, the EH50, which is similar to the EH55. I know in the EH50 before finalizing you can select different menu backgrounds or styles, so if you machine has this option also, just for a test, select a different menu and try burning a disk with it to see if you still have the same anomaly with it. If not, try switching back to the first one and see if it still has it or not. Maybe just switching to another menu style will reset it. Worth a try.
