I noticed a weird humming noise sort of sounding like a cricket coming from my Panny HDTV. I never noticed it before but ever since the Olympics came on, I've been hearing it on and off.

It seems to come on when the network is displaying some kind of graphics. Not all the time though. Some non HD channels don't make the tv emit the noise but some do.

I fooled around with my tv and noticed that if I put my contrast down to a certain level, the noise stops. If i have it up all the way or close to all the way up, I get it back.

I have my Cable box hooked up to the tv, and Xbox, and a Wii. I noticed no noise when I came home from work, but then when I put my Xbox on and played, and then went back to watching tv, the noise occured again.

Can anyone help me out on what may be causing this noise? I think it may have to do with the contrast but not sure. Is this going to damage my tv or just a nusance I will have to live with?

I don't have any hdmi connections just wires.
