Recently my DVD recorded started to repond very slowly to commands; i.e.

1.In going to the navigator it takes forever to load and use.
2. Deleting watch shows is about 10x slower
3. Fast forwarding through a show takes longer to respond
4. DVD's do not eject as quickly as they have in the past; sometimes they do not eject
5. Going through the menu on a dvd is slow and sometimes does not work
6. Shows record a few seconds and stop recording.

I have had the recorder for almost two years and these problems appeared almost overnight.

If your panny is connected to a cable box, it is possible that the cable company updated it's firmware. This has been known to affect the responsiveness of the EH75. I had a SA 4200 HD cable box that I had to replace with a different model because of my cable company upgrading the box's firmware. There may be a firmware upgrade for the EH75 that may address this as well.

Ther have been several reports of what Watchman56 has posted, but there is another issue that would produce most of these symptoms. If the file structure of the hard drive has been compromised, it could do these things. If the cable box does not seem to be the solutiuon to your problem, I would suggest you unload to regular disks, or -RAMs, all the contents of the hard drive and reformat. Your hard drive could also be failing. Instructions for relacement can be found with a search here, it is not difficult.

I recently had a couple of programs also fail to record/stop after only a few seconds after starting. I pulled up the diagnostic menus. In the "Section Recording-History" it showed a result status of "xHOST" for the failed recordings. Anyone have an idea if this means a signal interruption caused the problem? Or is there some signal the station can broadcast to turn the recorders off like a form of copy protection?
