Hello everyone, I recently installed an HDMI cable between my digital cable/DVR box and Sharp Aquos tv. I then lost volume control of the cable box.

Now when channel surfing i have to press the tv button to go back to the tv controls to change the volume. Then back to cable button to surf again. Kind of a pain in the butt everytime i need to adjust the volume.

What causes that and is there anything i can do to remedy it?

The STB can't control volume over HDMI, only way to remedy it is to use component and analog audio or get a remote that can control the volume controls on the TV without needing to switch modes (which most universal ones should be able to do)

What cable box and remote do you have? Almost all cable box remotes have a way to make the TV volume work when in cable box mode (it's called Punch Thru volume). If you let us know what cable box and remote you have someone will most likely be able to give you instructions on how to do it.

It is the Motorola DCT 6416 III, with a Motorola remote. No other distinguishing #'s on the remote.
