Greetings all...........

While i understand what i am looking for won't be a coupon eligible item, i would like some help or at least directed in the right direction.

I have a 27" flat tube SDTV. I have component inputs down to RF. I only get programming via outdoor Antenna in an urban area.

I seek a unit that can provide at least Digital/Dolby/DTS etc Audio, Component inputs and a DVR built in. It would be nice if it had a dual tuner as well so that i can watch 1 freeair channel and tape another. I do have a camcorder with firewire as well - so a firewire port would be nice. Does something like this exsist? I will eventually get an HDTV - but not for a while yet. As such, I would like a device that could also record/output in HD but able to display 480i res for now.

I mean i only have this tv, with a vcr etc. I don't need 15 boxes laying around to tie it all to gether. There should be just 1 box that can do it all.

I was looking at the LG rc797T but i am not sure if this will do what i think it does. Granted this is an older unit and only records onto DVD or tape, i'd rather get a newer unit with an updated tuner and an internal harddrive. What i see here in most of the forums are cable and satillite boxes, but nothing for freeair stations.

Any help will be greatly appricated.

Thanks

A Series 3 Tivo would work minus the firewire port, I don't think you'll find any stand alone DVR's that will have that option.

Also, the LG unit can't output HD from the tuner.

Check the Recorders section for more help with a DVR choice.

Click my signature for a recorder with 160GB HDD, digital tuners, digital coax and optical audio out, etc., Excellent for OTA. It passes HDTV thru its coax passthru but records in SDTV.
