Because of Olympics, I decided to upgrade my analog Comcast to digital HD Comcast and Comcast Cable Modem DSL.My house main remote acess station is the latest generation Apple Gigabit Airport Extreme with built in hub function.Previously i was using Verizon's Westell 327 gateway, and Slinglink to connect the slingbox to internet for remote viewing.Using the mac Sling player software for set up,I have to figure out port forwarding etc.
Now with the Cable Modem and Airport Extreme upstairs , and Slinglink downstairs, I was intimated on how to do "port forwarding."
It was a pleasant surprise when I ran the player set up, this time the network configuration is all automatic, no dealing of port forwarding etc was necessary. And the Comcast cable modem also provide great VOIP, and using Jajah to call overseas no longer stutter. I wish I had changed earlier.
CEO of verizon cursed Steve Jobs last month, and I will never return to Verizon again.
