Well I got the itch again, 32" is too small and I want 40+ now. I swing by here and see the 42" 1080p panny plasmas are in my price range. Only issue is that reality struck and reminded me that I use my TV as a PC display and that a plasma would likely get some nasty burn in rather quickly. I leave my Aquos on for 16-18 hours a day. Am I right in thinking that wouldn't fly with a plasma?

based on 18 hours of PC use a plasma display would[B] not be appropriate...
Clearly an LCD is better suited to this application

I agree, as much as I love plasma they are not meant for heavy PC use, a few hours a day maybe but not that much. Even with pixel shifting the chance for uneven wear would be too great, not to mention full white pages might look a little dull on plasma. IMHO they were simply never conceived to be used as a PC display and this is one area where LCD are king.

[before the usual suspects get here].......
Tell me about it......
"Oh, 18 hours PC use on a Plasma? Sure! IR is non-existent nowadays!"
I've done it on my PDP, but not as a primary use monitor with a static desktop. But for dedicated use I'd go LCD.
Plasma would be fine for HTPC... I mean how much time do you really spend at the desktop on HTPC.. I use LCDs and DLPs for HTPC and PC duty but only because you can't drive my plasma at native resolution.

I wouldn't use a plasma for web browsing, but it is OK for an HTPC where pretty much all you do is wach movies with it.

1080p Panasonics won't take 1080p thru the VGA, and I think HDMI maxes at 1080i. Mouse won't look so good with interlacing as it flies across the screen.

Agreed. Mine looked great!

I concur. Why run the risk?
