i can't decide between 2 players. With the cost of 983, i can get a used 3910. The problem is i don't have both to compare in term of picture quality. Does anyone try both? what's your verdict? I have Pioneer plasma 60"

I have the 983 and the Pioneer 59avi which is equal to the 3910 ( some say slightly better or slightly worse ). The 983's pq on my 60" Sony SXRD is a small step up over the 59avi. Audio is to close to call.

I'd sold my 3910 on Ebay when I purchased my Toshiba XA2 HD DVD player. The XA2 has superior PQ over the Denon, and my new 983 edges out the XA2 in SD DVD playback. Get a new 983. IMO, it's a steal at 400 bucks, especially being that the Denon cost me 1500 dollars when it first came out. The XA2 cost 800, but at least it has the Reon chip and also does HD DVD playback, which I guess now is a moot point.

thanks for your opinion. my second thought is 981 as well. I heard lots of good reviews on 981.
